dismantling racism

Racism is entirely contrary to the Word of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. Click here to learn more about LPC’s Commitments to dismantle racism as part of our faith practice together.

Racism is the opposite of what God intends for humanity. It is a rejection of one another, which is entirely contrary to the Word of God incarnate in Jesus Christ. Because of our biblical understanding of who God is and what God intends for humanity, PC(USA) congregations must stand against, speak against, and work against racism. (see PC(USA) General Assembly policy)

As a congregation within the PC(USA) we commit to:

  1. Seek to welcome and be open to all people seeking connection with God

  1. Educate ourselves to seek awareness of our own behavior and biases and the impact on our community of faith and the wider community

  1. Seek resources (curriculum, worship, preaching, and music) which are reflective of expansive diversity in ethnic and racial backgrounds

  1. Study Matthew 25 materials and resources to increase our awareness of systemic racism and its impact (https://www.pcusa.org/matthew25)
