Youth ARE Welcome

The

Our Youth Group meets every Sunday evening from 4:30-6:00. Our time together is a lively mix of fellowship, games, Bible study, mission activities, service projects, field trips and snacks. The Youth Group is led by dedicated church volunteers assisted by the Pastor.

We have a dynamic and enthusiastic group of young people who bring much energy and joy. This year, we will focus on exploring our identity as people of God and understanding how our spiritual lives shape who we are. Our curriculum will include studying various Bible verses and engaging in meaningful discussions about their significance. Our journey will also include fun games that help us think about who we are. We plan on periodically connecting with other church youth groups in our community to learn how diverse we are, how we are similar in our faith, and how we can make a difference together.   We are excited about our goals for this year, including the program expanding and enhancing the lives of even more young people in our community.

In the past 6 months, we:

  • visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture

  • participated in a special Ash Wednesday service

  • played the ever-popular flashlight-wielding game “Grog”

  • created a Bible timeline

  • contributed to “fish bank” donations for One Great Hour of Sharing

  • helped pack “Blessing Bags” for local residents

  • picked up litter on the W&OD trail in Leesburg

  • planted flowers and seeds for Earth Day

  • enjoyed a cookout

Summer conferences

Each summer the Youth are invited to attend a Youth Conference at a historic and beautiful Presbyterian conference center.  They do a parking fundraiser to defray their conference costs.

  • Middle Schoolers can attend Massanetta Springs in the Shenandoah (Harrisonburg, VA).

  • High Schoolers can attend Montreat in Black Mountain (Asheville, NC).

Tuesday Morning Prayer

Tuesday Morning Prayer (TMP) consists of a brief yet meaningful worship session. The structure includes hymns, a Bible verse or short scripture passage with significance, followed by a 10-15 minute period of silent prayer. Participants also have the opportunity to submit their prayers either in a designated prayer basket or by placing them on a TMP cross.

TMP is lead by members of the Youth Group and meets every other Tuesday at 7:30am. It is open to everyone and any age - just come to the church on a Tuesday Morning when it is scheduled!
