The Nature of Transition
To live is to change. I’m called a Transitional Pastor, but transition is more than an event, it’s the very nature of life.
Seasons come and seasons go. Creatures are born and creatures die. (Which includes us humans, of course.) We can sing along with King George in the musical Hamilton: Oceans rise and empires fall.
Perhaps the deepest wisdom I know is captured in these four simple words: Nothing stays the same. Or to use another ancient four word phrase: This too shall pass.
For the past two-plus years, LPC has been living into transition. Despite a global pandemic, a beloved pastor’s retirement, and a parade of Transitional Pastors, this Body of Christ is vital. We keep worshipping God together, keep serving Christ and our neighbor, and keep meeting for study and fellowship. In fact, we’ve become more fluid in our leadership and more nimble with our technology.
This Sunday we welcome our General Presbyter, the Reverend John Molina-Moore. He travels around the beltway, and beyond, interacting with clergy, lay leaders, and church members of all kinds. He will bring us a larger perspective on being the Body of Christ in the midst of transition. His message is titled “The Shape of Next.”
See you Sunday at 10:00!
