Our Pastor

Transitional Pastor

The Rev. Ruth Everhart has served Presbyterian churches for more than thirty years. She has been the Transitional Pastor at LPC since July of 2022.

She is also the author of three books. Her writing is founded on the belief that Jesus values the lives of women. Her most recent book is The #MeToo Reckoning: Facing the Church’s Complicity in Sexual Abuse and Misconduct, which weaves together contemporary stories and ancient scripture to call the church to lament, repent, and build a community of equality and justice. She has also addressed this topic in two award-winning cover stories for Christian Century, an essay in Sojourners, and an op-ed in the Washington Post. Ruth’s first two books were spiritual memoirs. Chasing the Divine in the Holy Land chronicles a transformative two-week pilgrimage to Israel and Palestine. Ruined tells her story of traumatic sexual assault and the response of her faith community. It was named “2017 Book of the Year” by Christianity Today Women.

Ruth is a graduate of Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, in New Brighton, Minnesota. She lives in Sterling with her husband, Doug Everhart. The couple has two grown daughters, Hannah and Clara.
